This only took an extra six months to show up, but well worth the wait. Speaking of weight, this one has a beautiful piece of ash that only comes to light 6.7 pounds. A rare and compelling find indeed, the Vintage Custom ā55 Hardtail Strat has all the tremolo-less charm needed to inspire any player, collector or aficionado. Start with a two-piece ash body finished in NOS flashcoat lacquer and add a one-piece rift-sawn maple neck with a 1954 āUā profile, vintage compound-fingerboard radius fingerboard (7.25āā 9.5ā) and medium vintage 47095 frets.
Hand-wound 1955 Strat pickups with 1954 covers are wired to a vintage ā55 control assembly and five-way switch. Other features include Closet Classic hardware, single-ply eggshell pickguard, vintage-style hardtail bridge with patent pending saddles, vintage-style tuning machines, bone nut and a disc string tree.
